Just a quick word of congratulations to all Giants fans on their World Series win. One of my Irish friends here in Switzerland is a big Giants fan so I know how much it means.
Like one Mike Patton ((c) Patton Facebook):
The SF Gate also managed to shoehorn Faith No More into a colour piece celebrating the win and the city’s quirkiness:
“4. Faith No More sings “God Bless America”: Beyond the seeming contradiction, this makes more sense than it looks. Faith No More lead singer Mike Patton has a solid operatic voice. And the influential San Francisco band sounded pretty good during a recent reunion. (It might be smart to set up a tape delay, in case the band that wrote “Surprise! You’re Dead!” decides to change up the lyrics.)”
And Puffy is a Giants fan as well.
And speaking about the Giants in 1993:
@Integra- Thanks 4 the link about meaning of the songs.
well I think its terrible. almost as bad as this one…

Personally, I love that picture of Mike Patton with his bugged out eyes burning shit on the streets of San Francisco.
Especially if you known the full story and the fact that if he was just a few feet away he could have been run over by a car just seconds later.
What a weird year in San Francisco history. Faith No More do some shows in SF after a 13 year hiatus, Mondo Cane does makes their US debut at a completely under the radar free show in Golden Gate Park, and then the Giants when their first ever World Series in SF in 50 or so years. Some 1.5 million people showed up to that Giants parade at city hall on a Wednesday at 11AM. What a weird year in San Francisco’s history.
this is worth a look at FNM’s listing on songmeanings.com…

lots of comments about the song meanings and peoples interpretations
yawn…come on give us something. thats not a good pic of Mike Patton I keep seeing everytime I come here.
Hey Sophie, from what I see, the tix for the Teleton will be given away, not sold. The Teleton foundation says to follow them on Twitter or FB for more info:
http://twitter.com/teleton
The show will be streamed and they’ll give the link for that on Twitter/FB as well.
…yeah, it’s in Spanish – so we have to watch for “regalando entradas AHORA!” 🙂

BUT…….I REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPE SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sophie – I thought Billy had said in an interview that they were 100% doing a DVD/CD of the Finale show. When I saw them in San Francisco at Warfield this year they had a crew out filming the line up preshow. The Interviewer came up to us and asked us a couple of questions. We asked him if they (the band) had plans for a live DVD or something. His response was “we are archieving thje 3 nights at the warfield. Who knows…they might…but you never know with these guys…they like to take their time.” My point, who the hell knows?!!!!!
@ Ti Mort – Yeah, wish we all did! and let’s really hope that the Santiago show is streamed and there IS an official DVD. A Faith No More entire Second Coming DVD package.
Anyone here know any details on how we can get tickets for the Teleton performance? Website all in Spanish, of course.
No No nO…Firsa….I am just trying to get everyone going……I know nothing at all. I really wish I did…..
You know something we don’t, ti mort? 😉
I imagine the Teleton performance on the 4th will have good coverage; but unfortunately it’s only 2 songs.
Sorry….everyone…that last comment was jsut wishful thinking……or maybe they have…who knows…
Apparently they have already started recording…..
Obviously SANTIAGO is the big hoorah!!! I get it!!!! I am just excited for the boys to get’er going again is all…..Santiago better be streaming on the net……any word on that? ANYONE?
Nevermind the Hollywood shows. The Santiago show will eclipse it all. The finale (supposedly) should be the very best of the lot. I hope they make a DVD.
18 Days…UNTIL THE FIRST HOLLYWOOD SHOW….YOU LUCKY MUTHAS!!!!!! Hope they change the set list a little….HAVE A BLAST!!!!!
they should wear suits like in that video. those sharp armani suits with shoulder pads and black t shirts underneath. Billy Gould should grow his hair long again.
Old mtv clip about the video for A Small Victory
Mike was actually sitting just 5 rows in front of me at Game 1 of the World Series!

Hey people of 2.0 …. JOIN MY GROUP ON MY FACEBOOK : THE PEOPLE OF EARTH DEMAND A NEW FATIH NO MORE ALBUM! Then share it with your friends. PALLEEEEEZ
Wow crazy video! Who was driving the car? Chuck, Jim, or Keidis
Holy sh*t, guys! I figured there was more than one bonfire but Patton really was at THAT one. So glad he didn’t get hurt…
It would be interesting to see if he was in the group that fled down the street after the car came through (I would be), the group that mobbed the car, or the group that stepped back and filmed it all. Probably the latter.
@mike Another sharp eye! Cheers.
“Back and to the left… back and to the left… back and to the left…”
Uh, yeah. A link would help –
And then check it out from this 2nd camera –
I’m pretty sure that’s Patton posing for this picture at :17 in the upper left corner.
He goes back for the photo shoot at :30, looks like he’s squating and throwing down the finger.
Then the car smashes through at :42.
I feel like part of a CSI team dissecting the Zapruder film …
Xavasca – Wow! Sharp eye!
If Patton had been directly opposite that bonfire the headline of that video would have been a bit different.
“LA and Chili FNM shows canceled because Mike Patton run over by a car at a Giants riot-lite.”
Then you can see him again at 1:52, right behind the shirtless guy (with his shirt wrapped around his face), with his side facing the camera. He then appears again behind the Giants flag at 2:04, and the last you see of him is right before the car barrels through.

@mike you can find Mike Patton in that video beginning at 0:44 seconds, standing on the other side of the fire near the middle of the screen (but a tad left), right after the guy in the McCovey jersey and the guy with the leather jacket are sweeping paper into the fire with their legs. He’s right behind the guy in the orange jersey and the guy in the white-and-blue plaid shirt. Then you can last see him point in the direction of the skateboarders bashing the street sign with their boards just before the camera swings around at 1:09.
If you make it full screen, you can even see Mike’s Giants glowing penis-trophy hat featured in the fire photo above.
I saw Fantomas open for Tool in Raleigh, NC. It was cold but fun.
I MUST get the audio of this!
Tool is one of my favorite bands to see live. Fantomas opened for them the first time I saw them. It was INCREDIBLE.
Never saw patton in any of his bands and either for Tool! I always used to live far from the big cities…
I envy you all, especially because FNM2.0 didn’t come to Canada ! Now that I got closer to Quebec city (and I probably would be able to do it for Montreal), I cross my fingers to see one of those bands!
Last time FNM came in Montreal was in 1995 with Gn’R and Metallica. Axl caused à riot acting like an asshole, as usual, and Hetfield got burn by special-effects flames during his performance. FNM was the only band to deliver what they came for. And… I was absent!
Mr.Bungle, my favorite band within which Patton was involved, came for the California tour, a memorable concert for what I’ve heard. Moochild and Fantômas also used to come to Victoriaville for the contemporary music festival. All these opportunities while I was working up north in Nunavik!
Maynard’s fans here probably know Puscifer, they are really interesting too. I don’t know if they tour.
Ditto Megan!
I almost forgot that Tomahawk toured the US with Tool. I missed out on that. Well, yeah, sounds too good to be true if Faith No More ever joined forces with Tool for a joint tour. I’m sure Maynard and Mike would be up for it, though.
Bring back Tomahawk or Fantomas to tour with Tool or A Perfect Circle, though. Could well happen… Both of Maynard James Keenan’s bands have new records out in 2011 and he’s touring with both. Mike has yet to record the new Tomahawk and Fantomas records, so it would be a matter of a lot of patience for all of us for a tour like that to happen.
Everyone here has EXCELLENT taste in music.
A FNM/Tool tour would(‘ve) be(en) most excellent.
Saw Tool and FNM back @ Alternative Nation in Sydney in ’95 not bad for a 15 yr old’s first ever festival!
@justafan- Saw that same tour in Oakland. The intensity was on a whole other level. Here’s to pipe dreams. Cheers!
I second wat Sophie says. Anywhere any time I’m there. Period. Two of the greatest bands in the world.
@Adam, et. al:
I saw Tool and Tomahawk perform together in Moline, IL on 9/7/2002. PHENOMENAL!
During Tomahawk’s opening set Patton threw in lyrics from “Sober” into “God Hates a Coward”, Adam and Justin came out and jammed with them (I can’t remember which song dammit but it was excellent).
It was the final show of that particular leg of their Lateralus tour and Maynard’s voice was roached BIG TIME so during a break in Tool’s set Patton came out (shirtless, nonetheless…if you ladies and gents want a visual) and performed Chet Baker’s “Angel Eyes” with Tool (a song that Bungle opened with when I saw them in Chicago in 2000 on the Sno-Core…they were dressed like the Village People, Patton was discussing “finding that special man”, all the Nu Metal kids were booing them like crazy–they just didn’t get it–it was incredible, but I digress…)
At the end of Tool’s set Tomahawk (minus Kevin) came out jammed on “Triad”: it was a HUGE wall of sound: Stanier on bongos, Denison on guitar, MAYNARD on guitar, Patton on his sampler with fake plastic tits over his shirt. At the very end of the show Maynard proclaimed, “Mike Patton for president!”
I almost cried.
I found this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zT_EfaJ91aU
FUCKING AMAZING! And Tool with Faith No More???? HELL YEAH that would (would’ve) rule(d).
@Sophie-How great would it be to go from Patton to Maynard in one show. Somehow I’m sure the thought of my two favorite bands playing on the same bill is just a pipe dream.
Refering to that comment by Adam Jones, if Tool and Faith No More ever toured together I would fly anywhere in the world to be there for at least a few of the shows. Fuck, that would be amazing.
Here’s Puffy talking about the Giants over here too –
Fire in the streets of SF video over here as well –

Interesting comments from Adam Jones from Tool.
Ain’t that a fake account?
He didn’t sing it: just a fantasy from the author of the piece.
Yaaaaaay!! The link please? ^^
Wait, what? Mike sang God Bless America? Anyone got a link?
