Faith No More played a wonderful show with a mixed-up set on their opening night in Hollywood, the anteprepenultimate date of the Second Coming tour.
Everything’s Ruined and Helpless made their first appearances on tour with Spirit also played. Another Danny de Vito stage invasion, a new one-off t-shirt and site commenters spitting on Patton were among the other highlights.
Share your stories below and we’ll add more photos and videos throughout the day.

PREVIEW
Given that all of you lucky people are already in Hollywood having travelled from Australia, France, Norway, elsewhere in the US, Canada and the UK this is an open thread for you to send us your comments in the build-up to tonight’s gig.
Tickets are remarkably still available for both tonight’s show and Wednesday’s.
Tonight’s bill:
Faith No More
Rob Zabrecky
Creepy Creeps (San Diego)
MC: Selena Luna
Doors at 7pm.
Send us you thoughts, updates and photos (a pic of Faith No More up in lights at the venue would be cool) below or on Twitter.
We’ll have updates on set list etc during the performance in around 23 hours.
Before meeting Patton after the 2nd night I met a girl who’d managed to snag set lists from both nights. Last To Know WAS on the 1st setlist as 2nd encore before a closing We Care A Lot. Also Arabian Disco then WCAL were the final 2 on the 2nd list. Took pics of both sets though have no access to upload til early next week. Will post such gems in due course…
AngelPasto,
Dude, those videos were shot with TINY, ITSY-BITSY cameras with eeny-miney micrphones the size of gnats, for crying out loud, and not even plugged into the mix-board! What were you expecting, dolby-digital surround-sound re-mix of the gig? Don’t be silly.
They sounded GREAT in there. The clarity from the speakers was amazing. I had not heard anybody sound THAT great in that venue in a long time, and it goes to show you how far sound technology has come. The bass was pounding, the guitar was tingling, and Roddy’s keyboard was smooth, and what’s more, Patton’s voice came through so powerful and clear, I was amazed.
I spent so much money flying out to LA for this show, hotel room, rental car etc. But it was worth every penny. I saw FNM for the Angel Dust and Album of the Year tours, and I can say this show was as good as either of those two shows. They are one of the best bands of all time.
@W.: don’t take me too seriously, you were there and will know better how it felt. FNM songs usually gain when performed live (according to what I think :)), I just looked at the videos and didn’t think that was the case for these 2 songs in particular, but voila, who cares; and I’m glad they put them out there anyways. My only point is that musicians know better what to put out there, of course we as fans want to hear this this and this, but the setlist they choose is what they want to play for a reason. I just take that and do not complain about not hearing Jizzlobber.
Peace 🙂
I hate people like AngelPasto who THINKS he knows so much about a certain thing, when his OPINION means diddly squat. If a song didn’t feel right in the first place to be played LIVE, why would they TRY to play it at all, then? Those songs sounded GREAT LIVE, I was there, FNM were SUPERB, they didn’t miss a beat, everything sounded GREAT. And they really had the energy too, because they hadn’t played in a while and it showed, they had energy to spare, Patton’s voice was top-notch clear.
Amazing footage! Have fun tonight everyone!
Everything’s Ruined and Helpless , I can only dream I was there…
Have a blast people !!!!
Everything´s ruined, Spirit, Helpless – awesome!
Undoubtedly one of the best shows of this tour. Roddy said Night 2 is a completely different show. I can’t even imagine what to expect. About The Last To Know change, did anybody have acess to the official setlist?
I can’t believe how good Everythings Ruined sounded. Usually wen a band play a rare song in a set it’s a little sloppy. Spot on. Was wAiting for that one the whole tour
My videos of Ev. Ruined and Spirit:
@Firsa: Thanks for your understanding. #peaceandlovebewithyou-forever 🙂
Excellent show. Loved every second of it. Great set with a few surprises. Again there were a few I would have liked to have heard, but maybe tonight they’ll do some of them. Patton sounded great as always and the band were rocking big time. Was pissed I didn’t nab a signed poster when I arrived as they were all sold out when I actually went back later in the night. Doh!
Nice to meet you too, Formica 🙂 glad you said hello.
Last night was epic (to overuse that word) but that sums it all up. Tonight, it will be even more so. See you all there!
@Angel Pasto: I think you are spot on re. a Myriam Hernandez cover in Chile. That would *totally* make sense. We’ll see…
Having heard Helpless and Everything’s ruined -I like both songs in their original versions- it’s clear why they haven’t been playing them. As Roddy and Bill said in previous interviews, they put lot of energy in choosing the right songs to play in second coming, if they don’t play a certain song is most likely because it doesn’t feel right. Now we get it.
That said, looking forward to more surprising stuff. Covers in particular, I’m almost certain they will cover Myriam Hernandez in their Chile Teleton appearance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iHT-DGgbTc)
Nice account Formica!
I couldn’t believe they played Helpless… Now I have to wait through an entire workday before I can watch it on YT. Sweet torture 🙂
I wonder if they had Last to Know on their original setlist and changed their mind on stage. Maybe you guys will hear it tonight?
I’ll probably be in the last show in Chile next sunday. I hope I can send you some pictures or/and videos. I’ll travelling to Chile tomorrow morning…Hasta la vista everybody!!
Now that I’ve had some sleep…
Being in Hollywood for this show last night felt like FNM ground zero. It was fantastic. I met up with tbrandao at Dillon’s for beers, actually introduced myself to Lusty this time, and met a bunch of fans in town for the show.
I was very upset that Monotonix was not permitted to play, I was really looking forward to them. Rob was okay, the Creepy Creeps were alright… but neither was as entertaining as the openers during the San Francisco homestand. (Okay I take that back: I would rather see the Creepy Creeps than the White Trash Debutantes :P) Selene Luna was fun, she’s a good MC and worked the crowd pretty well.
The boys didn’t get on stage till 10:15 or something ridiculous like that. You know your crowd is aging when people start complaining about having to work the next day, something I heard from more than one person 😛 I was a bit surprised to hear Reuinited to start with; it seemed like it was being rotated out earlier this year.
Then they played Everything’s Ruined and I jumped and cheered like a little kid on Christmas.
The rest of the main setlist was notable for absences: They didn’t play Be Aggressive or King for A Day.
Helpless blew me away. I heard the opening guitar and turned to the guy next to me and gaped, “OMG they’re playing Helpless!” I never thought I’d get to hear that one live. I sang and screamed and rocked back and forth, grinning like a fool. It was fantastic. Spirit was loud and crunchy and and in your face, as it should have been; my wife was very happy to hear that one!
Predictions for tonight: The set will open with Midnight Cowboy and The Real Thing, we’ll get Be Aggressive and KFAD, A Small Victory will be played, and one of the encores will be Crack Hitler.
See you tonight, folks!

Puffy rocks.
where is the audio rip?
My phone said 10:23 when the lights went out.
“Helpless” plus some fucking awesome pre-song banter:
Tbrandoa- looking forward to those vids!
U guys need to jog my memory. I was kind of drunk. Did the band mention us that came from europe and australia to see the show or did i dream it?
See u guys tonight!!
Right sorry…it was death march that I was thinking of…oops…my mistake …sorry guys.
Seemed to be around 1030. Anyone confirm?
Cheers mate. Any luck with Dean? Look forward to seeing that vid.
Awesome show! Got to hang out with my buddy Josh/Formica before the concert and was blown away for Everything’s Ruined appearance. I didn’t make to the front (will tonight, tho), but shot a couple videos of the “rare” songs. Helpless is almost up on YT. I will make sure to post the links here if everything goes well.
On to tonight, fuckers!
BTW – They did not play Spirit at the Warfield in April.
Does anyone know what time FNM started their set?
cool
@ti mort- I was at the Warfield shows but not down in front.
