- We may have posted this before but its a gem regardless – Faith No More featuring Young MC, Ozzy Osbourne and James Hetfield on Epic and War Pigs from 1990:
holy shit! that A.D. game is for REAL??? haha!
Come to think of it, I never would have known that game existed if I hadn’t noticed it in that magazine, with the exception of the one interview I’ve heard where they mentioned it. I thought they were joking at the time.
The Real Thing one is just a Photoshop.
I remember playing the Angel Dust game, laughing my ass off about how cheesy-but-cute-and-clever it was, and guzzling Jolt® cola (“Twice the caffeine!”) when I made it to the wet concrete stage. I must admit I never would have beaten Jizzlobber (the hardest end boss in the game) without the handy Electronic Gaming Magazine hints. There was even an easy-cheesy drumming Puffy stage which was kinda like a precursor to the Dance Dance Revolution concept. The songs (A Small Victory, Midlife Crisis, Everything’s Ruined, Smaller And Smaller, Jizzlobber, Caffeine, Midnight Cowboy – the infinite loop winning credits theme) all sounded great in the distinctive Atari sound, but it was kinda stupid how the opening theme music was a cheesy montage of the Epic intro, guitar solo, and closing piano when the entire game was about Angel Dust.
Anyway, does anyone out there still have this game? And a working Atari 2600 so you can record the sounds? I lost mine in a fire in 1998.
Does anyone have the Electronic Gaming issue that they could scan and post?
Faith No More confirmed for Rock City Festival (Romania), with Gn’R and The Cult: http://www.bravewords.com/news/179216.
Sonny Bungle is not a hockey fan…..player #5…that’s good stuff….lol.
I’d like to hear some isolated tracks from Cuckoo For Caca, Woodpeckers From Mars, War Pigs, and Hippie Jam Song.
P.S. Puffy is sitting just right behind player number 5.
And “Epic” was the only FNM song Young MC ever liked, he he.
Anyway, “Midlife Crisis” is a great tune, but Angel Dust has much better song to offer. Way better, which are all masterpieces.
amazing how everything sounds different on its own was nice to hear how rough some of the bass and guitars were. very basic keyboards and mixing and the vocals and drums really get the magic touch. that lead guitar line really sounds cool and when i hear it on its own kind of adds another depth and feel to the song. i’ve got the “we care alot” master track somewhere.
Hang on…there was actually a Faith No More Atari game ???
Those isolated clips are great…you really catch some nuances of the song….very cool stuff…
As for the Epic/War Pigs vid, I think Young MC’s voice really meshes well with Patton’s and Roddy during Epic, and the band plays like a bunch of animals during War Pigs….Big Jim is even smiling…simply awesome!
Some of the best songs have alot of simplicity to them…such as a single bass note through the whole thing! Midlife Crisis is my favorite FNM song and it’s probably Bill’s easiest song to play! I hope if they record new material they can pull off 1 song like this one…something I’ve never heard anything like before.
Great post admin! I actually hadn’t seen the Young MC / Ozzy clip, only heard it. Ozzy has 1 jump in there where he gets pretty good air! Ivanka is one of my fav IT songs also, but I liked the version they put out on the 45 better than the one they re-recorded for “On”…I wish I had a phonograph so I could listen to it again! If anyone has the original on digital could you please post it somewhere?
Wonderful – always wanted to hear just the vocal tracks from Midlife Crisis!! Sounds great.
