Sad news today of the passing of Bee Gees icon Robin Gibb at the age of 62. The Venn diagram overlap of Faith No More and Bee Gees fans might not be the largest but FNM gained an appreciation of Gibb’s songwriting they might not have had due to the band’s 1995 cover of I Started a Joke – the perfect showcase for Mike Patton’s vocal range and the Gibb brothers’ often overlooked songwriting ability.
Today also saw the passing of Crowded House drummer Peter Jones.
Billy’s announced some new shows on twitter:

Faith No More introduced me to the song “I Started A Joke” and every time I even think of the song it moves me to tears. I’ve always enjoyed the Bee Gees, my favourite song being “You Win Again”; but thanks to Faith No More drawing attention to that song, I had respect for them.
Solid group, and seemed like a decent guy….RIP, man…
I love the Bee Gees, especially their disco effort. RIP Robin Gibb.
I ordered a copy of the FNM compilation album ‘Midlife Crisis’ a few days ago, which I received in the post today.
I wanted it in particular because ‘I Started A Joke’ is on it and I adore Patton’s vocals on this. The timing is very strange.
RIP indeed Robin Gibb.
