As there are some good quality videos already emerging, we’ve decided on a separate post for the videos from Faith No More’s tour opener in Vancouver.
Sol Invictus
From the Dead
Ashes to Ashes
Last Cup of Sorrow
Gentle Art of Making Enemies
Epic
It’s weird to even contemplate but I think FNM have topped themselves! Mature, lush yet at times brooding record that I believe will be known in time as a classic! The opener and the closer are absolutely beautiful way to bookend a record, and I believe that FNM have raised the bar and other bands will follow! Want. Physical. Copy. Now.!
Yes the sun and resurrection themes are very prominent throughout.
Fantastic indeed! This album is shaping up to be amazing, perhaps their best. I will admit that I have snuck a listen to all the studio versions of the live songs I’ve heard so far (I didn’t listen to Sunny Side Up since I haven’t heard it live yet). These are great songs…and I do feel that it is a progression from their earlier works. Studio Matador and Cone of Shame….oh my! Sol Invictus is a great opening track and From The Dead closes it beautifully…it seems lyrically this album is full of statements. The cover art’s yellow reflects the sun rising after the funeral AOTY. The sun is a theme throughout, then ending with Matador’s “May the dead live” and then “I’m coming home”, back from the dead. It’s a beautiful statement but as somehow else was reluctant to say, mature and organic. Nothing about this album is trying too hard like you may expect an older band to do on it’s comeback, this album just is, and it’s great. I can see why this music pulled Patton back, it’s exciting stuff. It’s also what I’ve always wanted from this band since…all 5 guys loving what they are doing making music with each other, each one shines.
Yes. Missing that
Wow both new ones sound fantastic live. Curios to see a vid for sunny side up.
