I read on Youtube that one of the Brothers Johnson passed away a few weeks ago, the bass player. If so, I guess this is a pretty sweet tribute by FNM. It’s a great song for them to play, but I would take it out of Midlife Crisis and play it separately. I also hope they stop messing with Midlife Crisis. Just play the song straight through. You don’t have to break it in half every time.
This is more than a snippet, almost full cover version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORCyUA2_oio
Brothers Johnson, wow!!! Exists live footage of that title?
Thanks David great post
Here’s an interview with Roddy about the show: http://youtu.be/Tib0yh1GKRE
They should do a studio Version of strawberry letter 23. Matches perfectly with FNM.
Was the Brothers Johnson cover
Agree with the previous comments, Cone of shame would be great. Yesterday @ Download, they started with a new song before going into Sol Invictus. Any ideas??
maybe they fall into the category if mid tempo songs the band seemingly doesn’t like to play? Cone of shame is a great track tho
The omission of Cone of Shame is baffling to me. There has to be something about playing it live that they’re not happy with. Shame because it’s one of the best on the album.
Looks like Cone of Shame is out of the rotation. No Rise of the Fall? Maybe they regard it as a studio song, but they should attempt it live. It’s too good to just let it sit on the album. I also hope they do some new cover songs like they used to.
