Yo !
Cuz I’m hyped as fuck about the..(ahem)..Theater at Madison Square Garden show..heheh..which is all good with me..it actually sounds better than MSG ;).
I made a hopeful (The Real Thing, Just a Man w/Choir!), but realist (Epic, Easy..I love’em, but I’m good) setlist, if anyone gives a turd 🙂
It’s 20 songs, more than I think they usually play, but..
A.) They may feel..compelled..to hook it up because of venue change thingy…not that they should or have to, but because they’re nice people.
B.) Cuz it’s New York fuckin’ City !! Hahah !! Sorry..
1. ZOMBIE EATERS …cuz they played the holy motherfuckin shit outta this that time at Hyde Park.
2. COLLISION….yup. It’s got great energy for a NY crowd that wants something…unexpected.
3. EPIC…. like death and taxes…but still, this will keep peeps hype 😉
4. SUPERHERO
5. EVIDENCE
6. SEPARATION ANXIETY
7. GENTLE ART OF MAKING ENEMIES
8. SUNNY SIDE UP…I really like this 🙂
9. MIDLIFE CRISIS…I am one for whom this song never gets old.
10. EVERYTHING’S RUINED
11. CAFFEINE …sneak attack of this badass son of a bitch right here..
12. EASY
13. KING FOR A DAY ..kaboom.
14. ASHES TO ASHES
15. CONE OF SHAME…can’t fucking wait to hear this live.
ENCORE
16. MOTHERFUCKER…..we get to curse? New York’s in.
17. MATADOR…The. Bomb.
18. JUST A MAN …..with the Harlem Gospel Choir !!! COME ON!!
The FNM gives back ENCORE
19. STRIPSEARCH…yes.
20. THE REAL THING…cuz for me, this song represents the birth of the band we know today…and it’s still my favorite song..especially live.
21. Thousands of NY’ers weeping in joy 😉
Yeah, I like Mike’s vocal on that first live attempt better than the album…no diss on the album version, but live always comes off as more primal. The 3 songs off this album that make me rethink my FNM top ten list the most are Cone of Shame, Rise of the Fall, and Matador. That middle section of Rise of the Fall just takes FNM song-writing to another level IMO…I hope we hear a better version of it live, but it sounds like one of those “studio creations” like Smaller and Smaller.
What an intro, Cone of Shame!
I also agree with Benrun about Tokyo version, best I’ve heard so far.
Benrun..your right that a how in tokyo the first time they did come of shame was the best so far.
I haven’t heard this one yet, but I think the best version of Cone of Shame so far is the first time they did it in Tokyo where it opened the show…I think Patton may need to be fresh to really do it right, so maybe this one will be great too. But maybe the nervousness of doing new songs improves the performance, as the first time they did Matador is also my favorite and some of the others as well.
to open with Cone of Shame … wow!
Great videos, thank you.
Those videos aren’t from the Dallas show, I think they are from the Austin show (Southside Ballroom is all GA floor, no balcony). Also, they didn’t play ‘This Guy’s in Love in You’ since house lights came up after ‘We Care A Lot’. The full setlist is up on setlist.fm. Fantastic show! Glad they switched it up a bit.
