Faith No More bassist and more Bill Gould has exclusively revealed to Faith No More Followers that the band will release a special 30th anniversary edition of We Care A Lot through his Koolarrow label in 2016. The release will feature bonus extra tracks and unseen photography.
Here are some other snippets from Bill’s interview:
There are a lot of similarities between WCAL and Sol Invictus, did you actually use the 1985 album as reference? Did you think ‘this time lets go back to our roots’ or did just turn our that way?
I think it just turned out that way. It’s something that felt right…it felt familiar, but not self-consciously.
I believe yourself and Mike Patton have used the great metaphor that listening to your own albums is like looking back on baby photos. How does WCAL sound to you 30 years on?
Like the 80’s 🙂 Seriously, just recently I found some old tapes in my attic and had them transferred, some of them were masters from this recording session. I have to say, they sounded really good! It surprised me, and made me look at these 20 year old idiots with a bit more respect, ha ha!!
So there is a clip of the pro footage at Amoeba Records from last year with the record version of Superhero playing over the footage on another fnm site. That’s great and all, but the footage looks amazing…I would love if Amoeba actually let us see all the footage with the actual live audio!
Lance, glad to hear it! I see that Fear Factory is playing in Europe now. Hope they come the States. The original lineup had a ton of power. I think they were on Roadrunner like Sepultura, but they have a lot of great songs.
Hey todd I had my iPod on shuffle and self bias resistor came on. I thought to myself what an amazing album this is. Good call on the demanufacture album fear factory is fantastic. I still think resurrection is one of the best songs of all time
For Throwback Thursday Thanksgiving, I am listening to Fear Factory’s Demanufacture from 1995. Check out Replica to get pumped up for the weekend!
Good question Lance, I remember it being in either Nov or Dec. I’m still waiting for Amoeba Records to show the full FNM show from their own recording (as opposed to crappy cell phones on youtube). I check that website regularly hoping. In the meantime I’m really excited about the WCAL reissue…I hope we hear a release date soon, but I assume it would be on next year’s record store day which is pretty far off.
Anyone have any info on when that arte berlin show is getting released? Didn’t they say it was going to be in November?
Patton did a stage dive and nobody caught him. Times have changed.
Yeah, that is a different release/re-issue. I’ve never been sure who owns the rights to this album. Mordam is long gone. The iTunes release references Chuck. It’s been released physically in Austrailia and other places and now this RSD release. Obviously Billy has some rights to it since Kool Arrow is releasing it. Maybe the copyright expired and its public domain?? I’m waiting for the Kool Arrow release and am excited about it since I don’t have a physical copy.
Just a heads up: http://www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialRelease/8174
“We Care A Lot” on Black Friday Record Store Day. Seems like a different label.
This is great!! It needed a remaster and an official re-release. Bonus tracks!!! Wow! Couldn’t ask for more!
Awesome idea, though next month would be the 30th anniversary…I hope we don’t have to wait too long! It’s nice having something FNM-related to look forward to! I hope there is also a CD and an iTunes master. Now we need a Faith. No Man. official release of all Morris’ songs, all of which are pretty good!
