The “unknown” song they used as a bridge in Bilbao was a snippet from Stevie Wonder’s “Sir Duke”. It was very cool indeed. Think perhaps I caught it on video, I’ll check it out and throw it up on YouTube if the quality isn’t too poor.
Quote from Billy Gould twitter page:
“We realize that this date has already been announced by the promoter but we are confirming it: July 17, Forestglade Festival, Austria”
They haven t played the special song yet. You ll just have to wait…
Besides i think they will play star AD which is the only they never played live.
The Ajde Jano thing it’s cool, doing special covers for a special country for the members of the band. It’s just like when they did Evidence in portuguese, italian or spanish. Or just like when Mike spoke fluently in all the three languages… so funny!
By the way, they did in Bilbao another song DIFFERENT in the middle of Midlife Crisis. Check the video that I posted before or this one with the audio soundboard from Radio 3 (from Chinese Arithmetic): http://www.rtve.es/mediateca/audios/20100711/diversidad-estilos-cierre-del-bbk-live-2010/825752.shtml
Hey man, I’m with ya. I would’ve LOVED for it to have been a new song…that would’ve implied new album, more new songs and extensive tour! Still possible? I’m not ruling it out: The fact that they actually got back together is enough to make me think that anything is possible. And how can they not get inspired by the apeshit crazy energy we’ve all been feeding them at every show??!
Yeah, maybe your right. Oh well… I guess it was special for those guys…kind of a letdown for the rest of us.
@Bobby
Man, I would love for that to be the case but Bill Gould tweeted “Ajde Jano” immediately following the Serbia show. He hasn’t tweeted about any other cover songs this tour (or any songs for that matter…including The Crab Song which they’ve only played one time so far and it was on this past leg of the tour): It leads me to believe that his Serbian song tweet was an answer to his previous tweet about the special song: tweeting “Ajde Jano” doesn’t make seem to any sense unless you associate it with the special song tweet.
No offense to anyone but there’s no way some Serbian cover is the “special song.” It’s either a new song or a rarely played FNM song. They’ve been playing covers since the beginning of time. It’s nothing Billy would make a big deal over.
I was privileged enough to catch just one date, July 2nd in Brooklyn. I really wish I went to all three east coast shows but I couldn’t. I hope they come back soon 🙁
Ti Mort, you are right! I was upset, too, thinking that the serbian cover was their special song instead of new material. Seeing them together has been such a dream come true and I can’t help for not wanting it to end, but really, they gave us all what we wanted in the first place and definitely made a point to be accessible to the whole world. I’m just so happy I got to see them, and I’ll leave it at that… but if they do ever decide to record again, I’m sure there will be some happy tears running down my face
I Agree ti mort!
Off topic- anyone know why they don’t play everythings ruined? Am I wrong or wasn’t this song extremely rare even before they broke up? Just seeing if anyone ever read or heard anything regarding this
Sorry. That was suppose to read “so much FUN!!!!” Anyway, hopefully some of you inferred!
I take it all back…well….most of it. After seeing video of Ajde Jano it seems like they are having so much!!! So you know what? How gives a shit what happens from here on in! They toured the world they gave every body a chance to come and check them out….AND THEY STILL GOT FLAVOUR!!!! VIVA FAITH NO MORE!!!!!
p.s. – please make another record…
Part of me doesn’t believe that this is gonna be the end of their touring forever (while a part of me sort of does), but I’m sure they’re gonna take a little more of a lengthy break this time after these shows.
Adje Jano
Yup that’s the last date announced so far. N I know I’m be greedy even though I was extremely fortunate to see them twice but Come Back to NY!!!!!
is it really almost the end? july 18th d-day? please come back to the states
Oh Lusty…I love your hopeful enthusiasm….I started thinking that just after I posted it…They did that crowded house cover 2 times in the same night in New Zealand….they seem to be doing off the wall covers every once and a while….I love it!!!!! Thank you for re energizing my spirits……….
Ti Mort – mmm, I dunno. Not that I thought it would be a “new” song, but the Serbian cover may not be it either. Guess we’ll have to wait till the 18th to know for sure!
I AM JUST GOING TO GO AHEAD AND SAY IT…..THIS IS SOOOOOOO DISAPPOINTING THAT THE BIG SPECIAL SONG WAS SOME SERBIA COVER (NO OFFENCE). I REALLY THOUGHT THEY MIGHT THROW OUT SOMETHING NEW….THE END IS NYE PEOPLE….THE END IS NYE………..
Ricardo- Excellent video. He is truly the best front man ever!
There’s a chance this show could be televised in a near future. The gigs in this festival usually are televised later, but not all of them. We’ll have to wait and see. Crossed fingers. By the way, awesome gig. I enjoyed even more than Paris last year.
Great show!!! A lot of time waiting to see you in Live
Please a make new record
ESTUVO DE PUTA MADRE!!! saludos desde Logroño
No words for the Ben + Midlife Crisis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCoozLKvn4M
Mike did almost 70% of Midlife Crisis doing crowd surfing, when he arrives the stage they did an unknown cover :S
Is the audio available for download anywhere?
Man, at this rate they are going to be pooped when I see them…. Faith No More taas kiipeää lavalle sunnuntain päätteeksi.
Cheers,
Lusty
