Wow… live in 1992. What a chaos… I remember seeing them in Budapest in 1993, Mike, like in this clip, during Caffeine, he pulled one drunk stagediver down on the ground, gave him the mic in the middle part after the line “Say something, anything”. The dude tryied to say a few words in English, but only could manage some bullshit (“Faith No More, I love you” etc.), while Mike was sitting on him and drank from all the bottles in his reach that was thrown on stage. Then, he sort of vomited it back, right into the face of the guy. Then he followed the line “Relax, it’s just a phase, you’ll go out of it…” So far, it was the best show I saw from them.
That was the time when I declared to friends: “Faith No More is a band you can never expect what you’ll see from them live. There’s always something happening.” And it proved to be true, if I consider the shows I saw, most of the times there was something unusual:
1992 Nepstadion (GNR Tour) – They started the drums of We will rock you, and stopped the whole thing in a sudden as all the stadium was clapping – just to piss off EVERYBODY
1993 Petofi Hall (AD Tour) – see above
1995 Petofi Hall (KFAD Tour) – Mike was fighting with bodyguards (trying to make them sing, and as they refused, he started chasing one around the drumset, rest of the band blocked all possible exits, so the poor guy was just running circles while the whole statium laughed at him…)
2009 Sziget (RU Tour) – Mike “ate” his shoelace
2010 Forestglade (RU Tour) – Mike destroying drumset
So, this unpredictable chaos is one element I really like them!
Hate the beasties…
I like the “Open Your Eyes” track… good space-out music for yoga 😛
