IMO, WDYB was more lackluster do to the sound of Roddy’s keys than the cover song interlude…I wish he would use the same keyboards as the old tours.
Douglas Esper – yeah, I guess it’s just something you say without putting much worth in it. still… I won’t give up my hopes for a future of FNM 🙂
iiti – I caught two shows in a row back in 2009. first I saw them at the Southside Festival in Germany, then back home to Sweden for the gig at the Peace & Love festival. I think there was one or two days in between, and I traveled by car the entire way. it was hectic but oh so fun and completely worth it!
I was there. I’m probably just lovesick fangirl but it was great gig. Mildlife Crisis kicked ass 🙂
Check out http://index.hu today! (they use FNM song titles as topics over the paragraphs) It might go in hours, so check it out…
About “hoping to see you soon”: did any of you ever tried to see 2 shows of a whatever tour? 😉
Jacob
Yeah they told Cleveland they would see us real soon…that was in 1997 and we are still waiting heh. Thanks for posting folks all the info is exciting even if this is the end of fnm. It will be interesting to see if they mix it up a lot to give songs one last play before it ends. I have my fingers crossed for at least one more version of the new song
Doug
I’m a bit disappointed with WDYB btw. it sounded fucking awesome, but the little cover snippet ruined it and then they finished it prematurely. no last verse and no long psychadelic outro? 🙁
ending the show with saying “hope to see you again” doesn’t sound like “well, that’s the last time you’ll see us ever!” 🙂
Fnm doing niggas in Paris, fantastic stuff!

The interlude during Midlife Crisis is actually a combination of 2 quite similar songs by french singer Jacques Dutronc, “Mini, mini, mini” and “Et moi et moi et moi”.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K5D63zpkRJ8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRaAghtPFRE
“Petit, petit, petit
Tout est mini dans notre vie
Mini-moke et mini-jupe
Mini-moche et lilliput (…)
Ministère et terminus
Minimum et minibus”
Then
“Sept cent millions de chinois
Et moi, et moi, et moi
Avec ma vie, mon petit chez-moi
Mon mal de tête, mon point au foie
J’y pense et puis j’oublie
C’est la vie, c’est la vie”
See you all at the Apollo.

So far Midlife with C’est la vie, FOON, Easy, and Pristina sounded great as usual…I couldn’t really distinguish any keyboard problem during Midlife??? And from the last few secs of that clip you hear the beginning of WDYB, so it was definitely that song.
One of my favorite songs to listen to is The Crab Song from Williamsburg Waterfront…a great rendition and the only time they played it all tour…I hope they give it one more play before they sign off again this time!

Midlife Crisis
Gerry L: yep, i think they did that line. the 4 lines before that, they did those for sure.
“She said Ye can we get married at the mall?
I said look you need to crawl ‘fore you ball
Come and meet me in the bathroom stall
And show me why you deserve to have it all”
There’ll be a full lenght HD footage of the show from the first row. It’s supposed to be up later today from this user:

Hi all! sorry not to post on this blog yesterday, but Facebook seemed to be an easier option that moment… I was happy to see that Mike was bringing the news to you too!
Thank you, MrZombieeater for figuring out what the snippet was, I couldn’t.
So all in all, here’s my short review of the show:
The stage covered in white, flowers everywhere, you’ve seen that. What probably not, that all the roadies were dressed in white, too. It gave the impression of a real funeral. Before the show, I was lucky enough to meet Billy himself at the backstage gate, he came out to meet some fans, and I could ask for a common picture too (you can see it on my FB profile, posted by Mike at the previous entry). You’ve seen the complete setlist, I was hoping for WCAL (since 1997), but not this time, but the kick in the ass was WDYB. However, I was not surprised. This song is just perfect for an end (end of an album, end of a show, end of a band…). Stone me if you want, but I’m quite concerned that this is the final tour of FNM. Everything is about saying farewell. I just picked lines of lyrics from the setlist to prove it (I might be stupid, but let me know what you think):
„she laughed no more” [e.g. died] (Woodpecker+Delilah)
„you wave goodbye” (Nowhere)
„varicose, comatose, senile” (Land)
„it’s not funny anymore” (Caffeine)
„wash it away” (Evidence)
„this is getting old” (Last cup)
„the grave” (Grave)
„it’s tragic” (Epic)
„I’m leaving you” (Easy)
„shit lives forever” [e.g. nothing else] (Cucko)
„now everything’s ruined” (Ruined)
„day has finally come” (Gentle art)
„It is not a good day, if you are not looking good” [e.g. the funeral scene of the stage] (King)
„I’ll see you” [e.g. bye-bye] (Ashes)
„I shut my eyes” [e.g. die] (Just a man)
„without me” (Midlife) / „C’est la vie” [basically translates to “such is life”.
but iv also heard it as sort of a bid farewell or a good bye] (french interlude n 2nd half)
„you’re dying today” (Why do you bother)
„I’ll be with you” [e.g. from the „afterlife”, not present] (Pristina)
Cheers,
Laszlo (yes, that one)
Yea Australia 93 or new Zealand as they like to b called – why do u bother.. And a CRACKING performance too.
“Why Fo You Bother”! WOW! Hope to hear it in Poznan. And “The World Is Yours”…
And now – the image of band. White suits, flowers… When The Second Coming Tour started in 2009, we had red curtains on stage, and Mike was dressed in red, like The Man From Another Place from “Twin Peaks” 🙂 So we had “The Black Lodge” od stage. Now we have “The White Lodge” 🙂
I saw them only ONCE in their reunion tour, and I feel pretty confident in saying that even though it was the best show I attended in years, I still felt a bit disappointed with the setlist, which was the same from the first year of the reunion – but still kick ass! Althought it was the first time they performed “Ben” by Wacko Jacko, a song I’m glad they put an end to. Kinda annoying, ha ha.
Anyway, things look pretty much the same I guess. “Why Do You Bother” is excellent though – a heavy, dark, post-punkish song; I always enjoyed seeing Patton sing this one live. But “Niggas In Paris”? Ugh.. I get a kick out of the Tom Jones cover, he’s more of a “G” than those overrated “rap legends.” Patton and his humor…
or was it that irish girl pop group version on ‘c’est la vie’ lol!
ah yeah “bewitched” was their name hahahaha!!! 😀

Gentle art of enemies.
Here’s another version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBDQLbabhno&feature=related
I wonder what ‘c’est la vie’ song they did ? Emerson Lake & Palmer ?
Just double checked and my internets is showing a video of Faith No More – Why Do You Bother – Live in Wellington, New Zealand 1993 – 05 – 13.
Can’t wait to see the 2012 version.
I would have killed to hear a Niggas in Paris cover from FNM! hahahaha, brilliant. Please tell me they did the fish fillet line?
The flowers and the white suits… riding that “this is the end” joke, huh? With the latest stunt I doubt anywhere will get a new song, except Brixton. Leave the best for last.
I definitely could be wrong, but didn’t that play “Why Do You Bother” at some point during the reunion shows? Or maybe I’m getting it confused with “Mark Bowen.” Either way, cool to see they played that as well as “Everything’s Ruined.”
Otherwise, yeah, I’m a little underwhelmed by the setlist. I understand that there are certain songs that they have to play (especially at big festivals), but it is a little redundant being in the third year of the reunion tour and not getting anything new save the one mystery song.
WDYB…one of my top 5 favorites of theirs…a setlist full of classics…I’m happy (but of course I could be happier…still can’t wait to hear some of this show). I hope they work “Spirit” in again sometime and anything else from IY.
I have said it before and I will say it again. In the the age of the internet it seems these set lists at times are a little redundant only because you know every set list from every show they play. But if they came to your town and you went to see them any one of the set lists they played would be a great show to see. My only concern with it is a lack of a new song.
*yawn*
sorry, but the set lists are just too much the same. its getting really old. ok at least “everything’s ruined” is there but they don’t play all of “woodpecker from mars”.
i know some people love their current set lists.
@shakey
Yeah, it worries me too…It’s been three years of them doing old material.
No new song? This is kind of discouraging. I was hoping they would play “The Mystery Song” or something else new. Maybe in the next couple of shows.
I love “Edit Setlist”…one of my all time favorites… 😛
In the middle of WDYB, they played a little cover of Niggas In Paris. It was priceless.
