A list on Australian record store site Nerve Gas has revealed that the Japanese import edition of Faith No More‘s comeback album Sol Invictus will feature a bonus as yet untitled track.
The release is through Hostess Entertainment and here is a listing on HMV Japan.
And here is the English language version of the page. Release date is also listed as 13 May.
I always hate it when a cd gets a re-release with a bonus cd after the initial release. Not cool with the fans who bought the initial release without the extra cd or bonus tracks. It happens all the time. I just hope this doesn’t happen woth Sol Invictus.
It was nice when Album of the Year came out with an extra cd with bonus tracks….and not some time after.
Yeah, I’d agree with Craig. I’m not about to pay $46 (current listing price on amazon.ca) for the Import just for one extra track. I will buy the standard album to support the band and just download the bonus tracks if I like them. I would buy a fair priced b-sides album if they sold it but I guess that would make things too easy for fans…
Yeh I haven’t seen it on any UK sites… Hopefully more details will be released soon.
Hmmm. The gold vinyl was already listed in Australian store. Not sure what the digipack CD version is though.
uh-oh… more special editions:

Just as long as any special editions or whatever are disclosed before the regular release I think we can all get what we want…just don’t wait until 2 moths after the regular release expecting all of us [fans] to shell out again.
I’m with Craig on this. I am buying the vinyl and the CD and I only want to buy them once, not twice to get an extra song.
Good explanation. Thanks…but they’ve done this in Europe too…offering tracks not available in the US version. Big kahuna and light up and let go were never offered on any US release that I know of. Same with IWFM and Greenfields. I always thought that the japanese version of angle dust had ATWT on it because whoever had the rights to the Mordam catalog couldn’t sue them over there.
Thanks for the explanation. I knew that Japanese imports have long been the holy grail for collectors going way back to before they became easier to find on the internet but not the reason for their unique features.
You know the reason why though, Craig W. Chenery?
Basically it’s cheaper for the Japanese to buy imported albums than to purchase them from a local store. The extra tracks are therefore meant to be an incentive to buy the domestic version.
I don’t think the band will be under any doubts that the rest of the world will just simply download the extra track (for, er, free, possibly) – but it’s sort of the done thing in the important Japanese market, and has been standard practice for many years now.
Agreed with Craig. I mean, this happened with KFAD as well! ISAJ and Absolute Zero are tacked on at the end of that album for some weird reason. The band recorded 20 odd songs and we got 10 which is fine with me but, I would have preferred the extra tracks as either B – sides to singles or a one off EP. Nevertheless can’t wait for May!
See, this is why people end up downloading stuff. I am not a fan of this exclusive bonus track crap. Regardless if I buy the vinyl, the CD or MP3 in the US or anywhere else, we should all have the same songs. Tired of Japanese exclusives and iTunes exclusives. I am prepared to pay for their music. I am a fan. I am not prepared to buy the album twice for one song. That’s crap.
For the record, I plan to be in line at Best Buy the day it’s released. I have been waiting for this album for 18 years. I plan to make it an event. I will not download it. But this foreign exclusivity is garbage.
Thank you Bobby!
Could well be it – unlikely to be anything else unless maybe coloured vinyl.
No track listing or country of origin
I am. It used to come up when you searched for the standard album but now you have to search for “Faith no more sol Invictus import”.
Bobby…are you in America? I don’t see any special editions on amazon…vinyl or CD.
That is great! Can anyone confirm whether that is the import version they are selling (pre-order) on Amazon?
