Faith No More pulled out all the stops as their US tour continued at the Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, with RV and A Small Victory on the setlist (the first time both songs have been played in the same set since the Phoenix Festival in July 1993). In fact, it was the first time RV has been played in the US since February 1993 (Tipitina’s, New Orleans). For good measure, the band played Rise of the Fall for only the third time – and for the first time outside Germany.

RISE OF THE FALL
YES!!
[…] In a ballsy move, Patton and co. brought out their mega-hit “Epic” just five songs in, leaving the rest of the set for the diehards. Naturally, most of the crowd stayed put, and were rewarded by an encore of two rare Faith No More tracks: “Rise of the Fall,” in its first ever appearance outside of Germany, followed by “RV,” which FNM hadn’t played live since 1993. Motherfuckers! They sound checked RV in Atlanta….I was waiting for it all show
Good setlist!
Starting with the real thing is a great surprise. The rest of the songs are really great.
Only reproach, the absence of Cone.
I’m expected a wild set list for NYC…seeing the band live since The Angel Dust tour in NYC ( at Roseland Ballroom) they always give Ny special attention. Wednesday is going to be insane.
Great show. First off The Refused were really great. Never saw them live before. it was an entertaining set. The singer got right out in the crowd and whipped them into a frenzy. FNM wasn’t the sharpest tonight but sometimes that makes it more fun. it was also a really, really beautiful evening in MD last night. Funny thing about this show is that the band don’t really say “hello Baltimore” or “Hello DC” because Merriweather is kinda between, so it’s a bit of a no man’s land and lots of band on stage banter centered around that. Nevertheless it was a good atmosphere. Was kinda disappointed we didn’t get cone of shame. The crowd, at least where I was sitting, was noticeably less familiar with the new material but responded well to the old stuff. Although one woman asked us on the way out “What was that last song they played?” Funny moment (there were a few) during TRT, at one point it seemed like the band were going for the big crescendo and then Patton started singing softly again. There appeared to be some confused stares shot beck and forth and then they pulled it together quickly.
Another funny moment was Patton’s interaction with the little kid, “Vincent” in Ashes to Ashes, Patton kept pointing at him – asked if he liked to party, usual stuff.
RV was a great highlight. Never saw them play that before. Matador was really good. Separation Anxiety was great. LOS and Caffeine were also strong renditions.
I really like the lowdown interlude in MC. Seen it live a few times now and it never gets old. Although I do like when they mix it up. Chinese arithmetic in the 2.0 tour was cool with the different covers thrown in.
At this point I really could do without Epic or Easy, but whatever – the crowd ate it up. it’s just good to see the guys back and playing. Please come to the DC area more often.
They better do something similar in NY. They hit the area twice in May so they better greatly switch it up or I will be disappointed
