Jim from Faith No More Followers has scored a brilliant and revealing interview with the one and only Chuck Mosley in which he talks about his forthcoming tour and plans to record new music.
Make sure to check out the whole interview here and here are a few snippets:
On the tour:
I’m working out a couple of Faith No More songs and there is one Bad Brains song we wrote when I was together with them and I don’t think the band ever play it. But I do wanna keep as acoustic as possible, I might break out a keyboard I’m not sure.On new music:
We’re going into the studio right now to work on some stuff which might not be an LP, might be and EP. I’m doing some stuff with Indoria. And I got a couple of brand new acoustic songs, so we’re gonna start recording those.

Can’t we all get along? Chuck Mosley himself admits that Mike Patton is much more talented. Puffy Bordin said its no comparison, but Mosley was still great. His lyrics and style was as original as any. Mike Patton has a lot of respect for Chuck. The two actually like each other. Everything happened for a reason in Faith Mo More’s unique history. Let’s look at the leader Billy Gould. I respect the hell out of the force he was. He made the band into an unstoppable machine. From what I saw in my years of studying the band, if a part started to malfunction, Billy would either try to repair or replace it if he couldn’t fix it. If I recall accurately, he attempted to write new music with Jim Martin following the conclusion of the Angel Dust tour. Which would explain why their last show was July 17, 1993 and Jim was fired November 30, 1993.
Sorry, but throwing the phrase “true fan” around is always a bit desperate. Anyone who listens to and enjoys several of the band’s albums is a “true fan”. It’s not a competition, and people don’t have to love everything they do. I know plenty of fans who totally dismiss the pre-Patton stuff and that’s fine. I don’t particularly agree, but it’s a personal choice.
Chuck was a vital part of pre-1989 FNM but he had the attitude and not the voice. It speaks well of all involved that he still appears with them on stage occasionally, and of course he’s entitled to perform “his” songs if he wants to, but his voice has clearly deteriorated even further. He has had his problems and that’s highly regrettable but it doesn’t mean we should make excuses if/when he can’t step up to the plate. It’s not as if Chuck is getting abused left, right and centre anyway.
Do you have a definition what a “True FnM fan” is…:) Are you kidding? But no need I think for an endless discussion. Just a different perspective on seeing (or hearing) things. I understand Chuck co-wrote older songs. My point is that he can’t sing. It was very generous from the band to invite Chuck on stage….but it was like looking at your drunk uncle on a wedding party. If you ask Mike Patton on stage with ANY band and he could nail the song. With or without rehearsals. That’s the big difference in talent. So I thank Chuck for the stuff he did in the ’80….but that was over 30 years ago! But nice to see some love for the guy. I totally respect that. I just don’t enjoy his mumbling and out of tune vocals.
Well that is actually pretty insulting, whether you say you mean it or not.
Without Chuck, Faith No More would not exist as you know it today. It may not exist at all in fact.
Chuck deserves a huge amount of respect and support from sites like this. He’s had a tough time lately but any true Faith No More fan would wish him all the good fortune in the world, he deserves that.
As for keeping his hands off Faith No More material?! He co-wrote most of those songs from the first two albums. They’re HIS songs. Why on earth should he keep his hands off them?!
And finally, his last performance with FNM was, by everyone’s admission, woefully under-rehearsed. If they’d had more time to practice with him, it would have been way better. It’s not easy to pick up where you left off with a band you haven’t performed with in over 25 years.
In short, go Chuck! The true FNM fans are behind you!
I look at it differently obviously, but I would point out that the current band happen to like this guy and want to see him successful. When Bill played with him in Chile, along with Talking Book, I learned about that on this website. Someone not in the band, whom they don’t care for much (Jim Martin), I also liked hearing about him playing with Infectious Grooves a few years ago…I found out about that here also. I also look at it differently b/c while I love every FNM album, 30 years on I still consider IY their very best one. So when the guy that wrote most of the lyrics and vocal melodies for that album goes on tour, it would be pretty weird for him not to sing one of those songs. I think Chuck was in FNM about as recently as Steve Perry was in Journey, so I guess Perry shouldn’t sing any Journey songs if he went out on tour either? Also, when a struggling artist (who has 3 other jobs) has a child with medical problems, and they essentially have to take care of that child in whatever way they can (a parent doesn’t have the option to not humiliate themselves if they have no other way), and they put out a plea for help, it’s up to a website on whether or not they want to post that or not. If I had a website, was a fan of said artist personally and professionally and wanted to help, then I would post that on the possibility that others may want to help too. I’m glad I heard about it, and I’m glad that I helped. So thank you, admin, for seeing things however you see them. And about his performance in Detroit…Chuck would agree with you, but I’m still glad he did it even though he wasn’t prepared.
Don’t mean to be insulting…..but….I think this guy should keep his hands of FnM material. He had his time……years ago. His live “performance” during the last tour with FnM was one of the worst vocals I have ever heard/witnessed. It was really embarrassing. Also his crying out to fans for money beacause he is so poor, rubbed me the wrong way. Everytime I see him mentioned on this website…I crinch. I just can’t stand this guy. Sorry for being so negative…but I really think this website should be for FnM news. No more Chuck please!
All right! Looks like a pretty good time to be a Chuck fan as well! There are quite a few great little acoustic songs on the Cement albums and on VUA, I wonder which FNM songs he will play acoustically? I’m thinking Spirit could be an interesting one. Maybe New Beginnings? I’m looking forward to new music by VUA and new Chuck with Indoria! I loved all the songs he’s put out on his bandcamp page. Looking at my iTunes, I’ve actually played Ericalution and Hard-Drivin Rock Tune more than Sol Invictus, which I love with a passion.
